SPRING is finally here and I couldn’t be happier! It was depressing to open my bedroom curtains last Sunday morning to find it snowing outside. I guess Montreal didn’t get the memo. Anywhoo, now that the snow is melting and the sun is shining, I am in the mood to incorporate spring into my living spaces!
Below are three tips I share with my clients to help brighten up their homes for spring time without spending a lot of money!
1) Switch up the pillows! It is ideal to have staple pillows in your home that are in neutral tones so they can be easily paired with colorful pillows as the seasons change. Tip: even adding just one pillow, whether it is a solid pop of color, geometric pattern or floral print, it will add visual interest and lighten up the space.
2) Put away those heavy blankets! In the winter, you want to cozy up by the fireplace wrapped in your favorite wool blanket, but now that spring is here it is time to store those babies away until next winter! Tip: purchase an inexpensive, colorful and light weight throw and place it at the end of your bed or on your favorite reading chair.
3) Flowers, flowers, FLOWERS! As mentioned in my early February post, flowers can add so much to a space. Not only does it add life, but brings the outdoors in! You can purchase a small bouquet of flowers at your local grocery store for less than ten dollars and they typically last two weeks. Tip: buy one type of flower; it is less expensive than an arrangement of assorted flowers.
